Question: What is meant by affordable housing?
Answer: The Cardiff Living programme will deliver approximately 600 new affordable homes for the communities of Cardiff over the next 10 years. For the Cardiff Living developments, the term ‘affordable’ relates specifically to homes which will be offered for rent by Cardiff Council (at Council rent levels) allocated through the Council’s existing waiting list. A small number of properties will be made available to the Council’s Assisted Home Ownership scheme, enabling eligible first time buyers who live or work in Cardiff the opportunity to buy a property on a shared ownership basis.

Question: How do I get on the Council housing waiting list?
Answer: There is a combined council/housing association waiting list for all social rented properties within Cardiff. You can apply and find more details here

Answer: In Phase One we are providing mixed tenure homes for eight of our sites across Llanrumney, Gabalfa, St Mellons, Heath and Rumney.
Please download this publication for more information about what is available in each site.
Question: What is Help to Buy Wales?
Answer: Help to Buy – Wales enables eligible buyers to purchase a new-build home up to the value of £300,000 with assistance from the Welsh Government in the form of a shared equity loan. The buyer contributes a deposit of at least 5% of the property price, with the Welsh Government funding a shared equity loan for up to 20% of the purchase price. The buyer will then need to secure a mortgage to cover the remaining balance of the purchase.
