Cardiff Living is devoted to delivering home living
environments for every person, at every stage of their life.
This includes living solutions for our older generation.
Addison House is one of Cardiff Council’s new state of the art Community Living schemes.
The accommodation consists of 44 x 1 or 2 bedroom flats on 5 floors with lift access. The flats are designed to be flexible enough to adapt around people changing needs. They will provide a ‘home for life’ which enables a resident to live independently.
The flats are dual aspect, spacious and open plan and have large private balconies to create a light and airy space.
The scheme has been designed to RNIB Platinum standards and complies with the HAPPI standards
The individual properties are self-contained but the scheme has communal facilities such as a lounge, roof terrace/lounge with views across the Bristol Channel, a laundry room, a courtyard garden, parking spaces including electrical car charging points and facilities for storing and charging mobility scooters. Community living schemes will also provide a range of services for the wider older person population to help tackle social isolation and promote wellbeing.
The design takes energy performance standards to a new level as all of the homes will incorporate renewable technologies and smart energy management systems to significantly reduce the energy demand on the grid, as well as helping to tackle fuel poverty by significantly reducing energy bills.
All Community living schemes in Cardiff have community alarms installed that provide an emergency response service on a 24 hour a day basis. Most schemes also have a manager who can help with day to day problems and issues during office hours. The manager is also responsible for arranging on-site services and activities.
